More Birds, Bugs, and Boats

There ended up being quite a few pictures I took that did not get inserted into my blog posts about my Kootenay travels so here are a few more of my favourites for your enjoyment.

This is a beautiful necklace I made for my friend Jane. Braided hemp, handmade Fimo beads (by me), a lake stone, and buttons.

Here are a couple of many heart stones that we found while wandering around.

Lupins are one of my favourite flowers and I had never seen them so big before since the Yukon’s plant life has a stunted growth.

Below are some more rings I made up before heading over to Alberta.  I have since purchased more materials and will be making many, many more!

This first picture is the Salmon Fly before it gets its wings.  From what I witnessed at the boat, it appears that they mature underground and once ready, surface, shed their outer layer and take flight.  A cool fact is that if you can catch this smart invertebrate, you can pop him in the freezer until you are reading to go fishing.  When you go fishing, they will thaw and come back to life.  Just don’t leave them in there for too long.

As creepy as bugs usually are, I found these guys to be really neat and they make a very nice humming/murmuring sound out in the trees.

This is a shot that made me feel very lucky. You wouldn’t believe the variety of bugs I saw and I have to say, the moths were by far my favourites.

My mum and I went hiking and came across this lake that was filled with tadpoles.  It was so hot out so we jumped in with them.

I spent a lot of time taking pictures of tree frogs. They loved to come and rest on the boat.

This was a view in the larger garden at my mum’s place.

My favourite flower, the daisy, with her beautiful, sparkling petals.

My cat had attacked this little guy. We tried to save him but he didn’t make it.

I was so lucky to get this grouse shot.  She woke me up quite early one morning and was calling her babies past the boat and into the woods.

I finally got to hang my prayer flags outside!!

My uncle’s chicken decided she wanted to live in the frame of his truck. He didn’t realize she was doing this until he drove to town one day and a chicken ran out from under the truck.

The talented Tasha Hall having fun with her camera 🙂

We buried my little cousin at the beach and she was rockin my shades that day.

You as you are, is all you ever have to be.

This was the most perfect day and we had this whole beach to ourselves.

If you wanted to see more pictures from the mountain, then wait no longer!
